NEWS RELEASE: 29/9/09
The leader of the city's Liberal Democrat party has dropped into the tea shop to praise us for our fund-raising for the Brighton and Hove Aids Memorial Statue. Councillor Paul Elgood, who sits on the memorial committee, received a cheque for £2,500 for the fund.
He said: "I was pleased to pick up another fundraising cheque for the AIDS Memorial from the superb Metrodeco tea rooms. They have done some wonderful fundraising through a special event night and a raffle - well done and thank you."
Co-owner Helen Wilkinson said: "It's was an honour to help a cause that I know is very close to the hearts of residents in Kemp Town. But the thanks really should go to the dozens of people who attended our fund-raising auction and music night."
