JUNE 17th, 2010 We're offering free food and drink to users of the latest social networking craze to sweep Brighton and Hove. Metrodeco will serve a pot of gourmet tea or a cup of coffee to customers when they 'check-in' on location-based social network Foursquare on their mobile phones while visiting the shop. The offer follows the launch of the app - dubbed 'the Twitter of 2010' by experts - in Brighton in November, one month after it was first launched in the UK.
Hundreds of users have since joined the service but Metrodeco is believed to be one of the first businesses to have officially teamed up with Foursquare to reward its users. Co-owner Helen Wilkinson (pictured above) said: "More and more people in Brighton and Hove are using Foursquare every day to talk about about the city's businesses and to find out what is on offer wherever they are. "You can find advice on anything from what specials are on at your favourite restaurant or what time your local launderette closes to which pubs are dog-friendly or where you can use wifi. "It's not just a passing fad - we think it's going to be massive. And we want Metrodeco to be at the forefront of the craze." To claim a free pot of tea or cup of coffee at Metrodeco, customers are asked to show their mobile’s Foursquare check-in screen to the cashier at the shop in Upper St James's Street. The offer is open Monday-Friday to anyone buying anything from the lunch menu. Ends |
